What did Jesus come to do?

On Sunday at Watermark, we asked the question, "What did Jesus come to do?" That question could be answered in lots of ways, but we answered it by considering the events of what happened during this monumental week. No doubt, Jesus came to do at least three things... 1) Jesus came to rescue you. (Triumphant Entry - John 12:12-19). The crowd gathered in Jerusalem celebrated Jesus as he rode into town on a lowly beast of burden. They were expecting a warrior King, but Jesus hadn’t come to rescue them from the burden of Rome; He had come to rescue them from the burden of sin. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 1 John 4:14 2) Je

Jesus’ miracle of the feeding the 5000 (John 6:1-15) is the one miracle, other than His resurrection, that is recorded in all four gospels. All Jesus’ miracles are special, but no doubt this one made a huge impression on all four of the gospel writers. There are many life-changing truths in this amazing narrative! We spent some time Sunday examining this miracle and some inspirational take-aways (click here to listen to the teaching). This miracle, taking five small loaves of bread and two small fish to feed 5000 men (but closer to 20,000 total) sets up the truth that Jesus is the Bread of Life! The next day, Jesus would make clear to those who were looking for another miracle from Him..
