Honor one another

Do you want to make an impact with your one and only life? Who doesn’t? I don’t know many people who would say, “I just want to live a mediocre life; I don’t want to do anything that really helps anyone or makes a difference.” No one really thinks like that; we want to make our lives count! So how can we do that? Jesus says, “Love one another”… and a great way to show love to another is by serving them. The Bible offers dozens of “one another” commands, and many of them relate to serving God and others. Let’s explore Five Impactful Ways to Serve One Another: 1) Show honor to one another. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10. Lit

Pray for one another

Are you carrying a heavy burden today? The truth is we all have heavy loads to carry from time to time in life… illness, depression, loneliness, heartache, loss, disappointment, weariness, discouragement… Life can get really heavy sometimes. But the great news for you is that you are not in this alone… there are people who want to come alongside you to help carry your burdens and to pray with and for you. Believers show love for one another when we pray for and carry burdens for one another. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16 2 Carry each other’s burdens, a

Motions of Love

Have you ever experienced genuine kindness from another? When you do, you don’t forget it. I remember, as young church planter with three small children, struggling to make ends meet, being desperately in need of a dependable second car. I never said anything about it, but a man in our church family stepped up and offered to let me drive a truck he had leased and wasn’t really using anymore. He offered to let me drive that truck for a year for absolutely free, giving Lori and me a chance to save up for our second car. That was so kind of that fellow believer and I’ll never forget it. What is kindness? In the Bible, kindness is characterized by benevolence and tenderness. It is an act

What love is (and is not)

Jesus wanted His followers to be identified, not by our piousness, our knowledge, our beautiful buildings, our good looks (or not), but by our love for one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 (NIV). Why do you think Jesus wanted that? I believe, in part, because Jesus knew people would be inspired when they witnessed our love for one another and that others would also see the love of God in and through us. People want to be loved. They want to love. They want to experience love… not a romantic feeling, but the act of love. As Believers, we are commanded to love one another. When we do that, we will make an impressi

What matters most?

Someone famously said, “Money makes the world go round.” It’s not money that makes the world go round, it’s relationships. If you want to make life work, live life to the fullest, get the most out of this life, it is not about acquiring more money, more stuff, more influence, more prestige, or more recognition; it’s about building more healthy, God-honoring relationships… first and foremost with God and then with one another. Nothing matters more. The longer I live, the more convinced I am that is absolutely true. Over and over again, the Bible makes clear how important relationships are. Healthy, God-honoring relationships are foundational for making life work today and forever! The g
