Christmas is all about love
I love everything about Christmas! I love the decor, the food, the get-togethers, the music! I’m that guy who sets the car radio to the “all Christmas music all the time” station on Thanksgiving and doesn’t change it! I love everything about Christmas, which makes sense, because Christmas is everything about LOVE!
The truth is, in Jesus Christ, God revealed the depth of His love for you! Jesus made the long journey from the cradle to the cross to show how much He loves you. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10
In culture, we really throw around and water down the word “love”, don’t we? I even did that a little earlier in this article. But God has shown us what true love is - unconditional and sacrificial. (John 3:16-17).
So what happens when I receive God’s amazing gift of love for me in Jesus Christ?
• God’s love for me will inspire my love for others. Matthew 5:43-45; John 13:34-35
• God’s love for me will motivate my obedience toward Him. 1 John 5:3; John 14:15
• God’s love for me will drive out my fears. 1 John 4:18; John 3:17
• God’s love for me offers me security. Romans 8:38-39
