Grumbling & trust

I wouldn't want to be thought of as a whiner or complainer, would you? But honestly, it's not too hard to find things to complain about is it? There is always the weather, politics, school, work, relationships, money, you name it; we can find things to grumble and complain about pretty easily.

This past Sunday, we continued our journey with the Israelites through Exodus (Chapters 15-17) and read about their praise, quickly turning to grumbling and complaining... twice because they were really thirsty - they had been in the desert without water for three days, and another time when they were really hungry and without food. Now in their defense, I think any of us would have been in a pretty rotten mood too in that situation. In each instance, God showed up for them in a huge way, miraculously providing fresh water and food when they needed it most. In fact, the bible tells us He provided manna (sweet bread) daily, for the entire 40 years of their journey!

The truth is that God wants to provide for you and me. He wants to take care of our needs. Jesus taught us to pray asking God to "give us our daily bread". Do you trust Him to provide for you, daily? Do you believe that He hears your grumblings and wants to care for you? Not only does God provide for our physical needs, but He provides for our spiritual needs. In Jesus Christ, we are offered "living water" and the "bread of life". 35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35

Take your needs to Jesus today. He wants to provide for you. Invite Him to be your Savior and Lord.
