Forgiveness & baptism

There is nothing that inspires me more as a Christ-Follower than witnessing a baptism. Baptism represents a changed life, for eternity! I was so grateful to be able to baptize two this past Sunday. Both had amazing testimonies and there is no doubt that the Lord is at work in their lives in a big way. I am honored that Watermark was able to share that with them, aren't you? 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. God is good! It was a perfect day to learn more about Forgiveness as we concluded our Live Love series... "Love keeps no records of wrongs." (1 Cor 13:5). So love doesn't keep score! T

Turn the other cheek... or turn over tables?

There is a lot in life that can make us angry and most of the time we are more than willing to blame it on the actions of someone else, aren't we?... an overwhelming assignment by our boss, a disobedient choice by a child, an inconsiderate decision of a spouse, a harsh word from a family member or friend, a loss by our team in the tourney! You name it, there is a lot that could light our anger fuses. In our Live Love series, we have been learning about what love looks like and what it doesn't look like based on 1 Corinthians 13. This past Sunday, we learned that love is "not easily angered"; so the implication for us is that love stays "calm", that is, it doesn't "blow up." Anger itself

A community of people doing life together

On Sunday evening, Watermarkers gathered to celebrate the first anniversary of our Ignite Campaign to build a home of our very own. It was a wonderful evening of food, fellowship and worship at River Creek Lodge in Stoney Point. Photography courtesy of Mabyn Ludke Photography.

Swelled up

Sadly, or disgustingly, this winter there was a possum (or an "opossum"?) that met his demise on the side of the road in front of my house. It laid there for a few days while I procrastinated getting it up. If it had been summer time, I may have had to act more quickly, but frankly, the cool temps kept it from swelling up and stinking. Thankfully, a couple of hungry buzzards bailed me out. Kind of disgusting to think about huh? Arrogance and pride are disgusting like that... They are defined in the bible as "swelled up". They are unattractive and unappealing and they have no part of love. Love.. does not boast, it is not proud. 1 Corinthains 13:4 Sunday, as we continued our "Live

The destructiveness of envy

On Sunday morning there was a young, college student who was headed to Watermark when a tire blew out on her car. She wasn't hurt, but by the time help arrived and the tire was repaired, she was running too late to make it to the service. Disappointed, she remembered that she could listen on podcast, so she quickly tuned in. Like many of us, the sermon on envy hit her squarely between the eyes. As a nursing student nearing graduation later this spring, she had been applying for positions with hospitals in the region. Some of her fellow nursing students were getting calls for interviews... sadly, she was not. She found herself trying to congratulate them for their successes, while inside
