Frustration and Fear Overload

Some days, it’s easy to find yourself on fear and frustration overload. Fear and frustration do not discriminate… It doesn’t matter how smart you are, how successful you may be, how many trophies you’ve won, how much money you make, or how old you are… frustration, fear and discouragement can hit us all from time to time in life.

As we walk through the first half Acts 18, Paul seems to be dealing with some frustration and fear because God saw the need to encourage him… 9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” Acts 18:9-11

For the Lord to speak to Paul in this way, Paul must have been at least a little frustrated and fearful. Corinth was a pretty depraved place filled with plenty of lost, morally corrupt people. No doubt there was a great need for the gospel there, but while Paul would experience some great success there, he would also have plenty of challenges that would cause him to be frustrated and fearful, discouraged and disappointed.

Maybe you can relate… you find yourself feeling the same way these days. What can you do when you’re on fear and frustration overload? In this chapter, God reminds us of at least three ways that He’s willing to help us!

1)God is sufficient when you’re deficient. (Acts 18:1-3; Genesis 22:14

2) God gives you a win when you’re at a loss. (Acts 18:7-8; John 16:33)

3) God encourages you when you’re discouraged. (Acts 18:9-11)

I encourage you to listen to the entire sermon to learn much more, but I want to give you the silver bullet for overcoming fear in life… Remember Who God is and what He has promised you! 10 For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” Acts 18:10. Frustration and fear disappears when you realize that you are not alone… God is with you, protecting you and surrounding you with a loving family of fellow believers!
