In January 2025, Watermark held the first Compassion Sunday where we learned about Compassion International’s goal of rescuing children from poverty around the world in Jesus’ name.
Through CI, we help children living in poverty and empower them to create brighter futures for themselves, their families, their communities and the world. Through the incredible generosity of Watermarkers, we are currently sponsoring 180+ children in four countries (Peru, Thailand, Kenya, and Guatemala) to help break the cycle of poverty by providing access to education, health care and basic necessities.
Children sponsored through Compassion are surrounded by safe, caring adults in local churches who know them individually, live out the love of Jesus and offer the specific support they need as they journey out of poverty.
Once a year, we host a Compassion Gathering where Watermarkers have an opportunity to share about the children they sponsor and learn letter writing tips so that they can grow the relationship they have with their sponsored child.
This is also an opportunity to share with folks who are newer to Watermark and who have not yet had an opportunity to sponsor a child.
Join us for a special evening to celebrate the life-changing relationships our church family has made with children around the world. This evening will be a time to thank those who faithfully sponsor a child and for those who are interested in learning more about this incredible ministry.
