The problem for us is...

Spring is in the air! Dogwoods and azaleas are in full bloom, the lawn is ready to mow, UNC has another NCAA basketball crown and Easter is just around the corner... This is a great time of year! This past Sunday we started an exciting new series we are calling The Easter Chronicles, looking first at God's amazing plan to have a real relationship with us. From the very beginning, it is clear that God wanted a unique, intimate relationship with mankind. Genesis paints a picture of God as almighty and powerful, able to create in a word. But when it comes to mankind, God formed us with His very own hands, in His image, breathing life into us. That makes us unique to all else in creation. Clearly God had a special place in His heart for us.

It is amazing to me that the God of the universe wants a relationship with me and with you! The problem for us is that God is perfect and we are not. From the Fall of Adam and Eve (Gen 3), mankind has been plagued by sin. The consequence of that sin is death. The Old Testament teaches us that the only way to atone for sin is by a perfect sacrifice. Ultimately, God provides that perfect sacrifice in Jesus Christ

25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Romans 4:25. That word "justification" is a judicial term that means pardon; no condemnation. God has redeemed us through Jesus and has restored our broken relationship with Him. From the beginning of time, God wanted a real relationship with us! Now, Easter represents life change to all who open their heart and by faith receive Jesus as both Savior and Lord. For much more, please listen to the sermon "The Plan" online.
