Getting busy

What do your actions say about your faith? A lot! The Bible teaches that our actions are a reflection of our faith… 26 …faith without deeds is dead. James 2:26b. James also says that faith without deeds is “useless”. (James 2:20). That literally means empty or defective. As Christ-Followers, we don’t have a faith that is empty. It is dynamic, active, and full!

Faith is reflected in a few ways for us as Believers.

1) Compassion. Words of compassion should always be accompanied by acts of compassion. (James 2:15-16). Faith without action is not only an oxymoron, it appears phony. (James 2:17-18) As a Believer, are your actions filled with compassion towards those in need around you?

2) Growth and maturity. As a Christ-Follower, I should be growing and maturing in goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love. (2 Peter 1:5-9). Are you growing and maturing in these attributes?

3) Obedience and trust. Obedience and trust are signs of faith. Abraham showed radical obedience and trust when he was tested with his son Issac (Genesis 22). Rahab showed remarkable trust when she was at great risk to herself and her family with the Israelite spies (Joshua 2). Where do you need to show obedience and trust in your life right now to reflect your faith?

Believers aren’t just called to “do”, but to “do differently”…. that is to live differently, committed to:

Devotion - be devoted to worship, Bible study, and community.
Honor - honor Christ in all areas of life morally, ethically, financially and relationally.
Ministry - serve God and others with the gifts and resources that you have been given!
